Chedoke Radial Trail

Description

The Chedoke Radial Trail is a popular 2.7 km pedestrian and bicycle pathway in Hamilton, built on the former Brantford and Hamilton Electric Railway, owned by the Cataract Power Light and Traction Company (later Dominion Power and Transmission). The railway began service to the communities neighbouring Ancaster in 1907 and to Brantford in 1908. By 1931 it had become obsolete due to the availability of competing modes of transport and on June 30, 1931, the train took its last trip to Brantford. The tracks were removed in 1932 and the land as far as Ancaster was given to the Hamilton Parks Board in 1938.

Running along the Niagara Escarpment, it offers scenic views of the City and Dundas Valley with access to numerous waterfalls. It is mostly gravel with some paved sections, connecting the Chedoke Golf Course to Scenic Drive, where it joins with the Iroquoia Heights sections of the Bruce Trail.
