Sherman Falls is a 17m high, 8m wide terraced classic cascade located on Ancaster Creek. It has gone by numerous names in the past, some related to the owner of the property at the time and others not so much.
The land was farmed by Samuel Smith and the Egleston family. Francis Whitton bought the farm and built a large elegant home with landscaped lawns, gardens and a gardener's cottage. This home was sold to Clifton Sherman, an American foundry manager who, in 1912, established the Domininion Foundries and Steel Company (Dofasco).
