Named after the Borer family, the creek provided power to the Rock Chapel Village Sawmill for over 100 years before land clearing reduced its flow. The area above the escarpment is managed by the Royal Botanical Gardens, while the area below is managed by the Hamilton Conservation Authority. It features protected forest, hiking trails, and a section of the Bruce Trail.
The main source for the creek is run-off from agricultural land. The subwatershed is considered a biodiversity hotspot, but upstream portions face water quality issues from urban and agricultural land use.
